No Worries

I’ve been working on planning our wedding about nine months now and still have a long way to go. I know the summer is going to fly by and the wedding will be here before we know it. I get overwhelmed sometimes by all that has to be done before the day, trying to figure out how I’m going to accomplish every miniscule task. Emily over at Cupcakes and Cashmere had a great post today that really made me feel better and helped the anxiety a little bit. I have posted about this subject before, but I really needed another reminder: it’s going to be the happiest day of our lives no matter what the day is like, so don’t stress so much!

I hope you all take the time to read today’s post from Emily at Cupcakes and Cashmere!

Stairs

I took the day off from work yesterday just for the hell of it. It was a really nice long weekend, most of which was spent shopping. I’m afraid to even look at my bank statement because I know I made a big dent in my finances. You have to treat yourself every once in a while though! And since Matt was actually in the mood to shop for once, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass.

Yesterday, we woke up and decided to take Ziggy (Matt’s dog) for a walk at a nature preserve right around the corner. We got a little confused on the trail because there weren’t a lot of signs, so we aren’t exactly sure the mileage we walked, but it still felt good! It got a little chilly after a while, but the sun was out and Ziggy was happy, that’s all that matters! It made me even more excited for Spring and Summer to get here so we can do things like that more often.

Sitting here this morning at work, I decided since I moved around a lot over the weekend, I would keep up with it and run the stairs here before I ate my lunch. I treated it like High Intensity Interval Training and sprinted up the 4 flights, and then only lightly jogged down them. I only did this twice though because people came out of one of the doors and I didn’t want to be bothersome. But even just two made my legs feel worked and almost sore! Either this is an effective way to workout or I’m just that out of shape still!

New Lunch Idea

I’m always looking for new lunch recipe ideas so I don’t get bored eating the same thing every day. Although I never venture far from the usual salad, apple, peanut butter & banana sandwhich choices, mixing them up a little helps to avoid boredom.

Today for lunch, I warmed up my cubed chicken to put into a bowl of spinach and got the idea to cut up the apple and put some of it in the salad and top it all with Asian Toasted Sesame dressing. Amazing!! Sure, it’s the same foods I eat just about every day, but putting them all together makes it seem like a totally different lunch. And it’s easy! Now if only I could set aside a day to prepare everything in advance so I’m not running late for work every morning 🙂

Lunch

I have to admit, I did pretty horrible this weekend with eating healthy. I’d like to make an excuse and say it was because I went with Matt to plow/salt and that throws my eating and sleeping schedules off – but I won’t make excuses, I’ll just say I messed up and am now getting back on track.

I’ve been addicted to hot wings lately, and that craving did not subside over the weekend. I indulged in Domino’s hot wings, ice cream, Taco Bell, Subway breakfast and who knows what else. I can’t even remember everything! Today, however, I’ve got nothing but healthy food.

{red grapes, grilled chicken salad, steamed broccoli}

The broccoli does not taste as good re-heated as it did when it was originally steamed, but it’s still healthy so I’m eating it! I’ve only finished the salad so far and I’m already full. I only used half of the grilled chicken breast, but it has enough protein to keep me feeling satisfied for the afternoon.

Junk

When you’re focusing on eating healthy and exercising regularly, and are doing well with it, and you want to know if it is having any difference in your health or how you feel, you know what you should do? Order Chinese food and eat it all in about 2 minutes, barely stopping to breathe. UGH!

Last night, Matt and I couldn’t decide what to eat for dinner and after bouncing around a few ideas we decided on Chinese food because it was close by and quick and easy. I always order the same thing – General Tso’s, extra spicy, with white rice. It was as delicious as always, I finished all of the chicken and the egg roll, but didn’t touch the rice at all. After I finished, I realized what just happened and instantly felt terrible. And I still feel horrible today! I feel tired and HUGE and not hungry at all. Usually I wake up and my stomach is already growling, but not today! So I’m doing damage control today – spinach, cottage cheese, grapes, and an apple. This should help cure this stupid mistake I made!

Super Bowl Snacks

Of course we all know the Super Bowl is on Sunday, and although I’m not a fan of football (I can’t even tell you who is playing), I still like watching the game – mostly for the commercials and the snacks that seem manditory for the day.

This year, I’m planning on making a Mexican dip, which ingredients include, but are not limited to, cream cheese, guacamole, jalapenos, cheese, and taco meat. It’s an easy dish that is always a hit at parties. I’m thinking about making something else as well so Matt can take some things besides beer with him wherever he plans on going to watch the game. So far, I’ve thought of making Pigs in a Blanket (always good) or maybe these Burger-Potato Bites I found on Pinterest. All you need is a package of waffle fries, ground beef, and then everything else is optional – cheese, mustard, ketchup, seasoning for the burgers, etc. The finished product:

Flower Girls

I updated the Wedding page for those of you who are interested in seeing what tasks I’m working on recently. Only a couple additions for March.

As I had mentioned previously, I went dress shopping at Coming Attractions in Akron on Tuesday, and luckily, I got a dress! It is completely different than what I had expected to get, but I love it. Again, I can’t show you a picture or describe it because I don’t want Matt to read this and then know what my dress looks like! I will say, though, that it’s very me and really HOT! Now I’ve got to figure out what shoes and jewelry to wear. The searching seems never ending.

Today I’ve been looking for flower girls dresses. We are having Matt’s nieces as flower girls and one will hand out programs for the ceremony. I’d like them all to wear the same, or similar, dresses, but this is turning out to be more of a pain than anything else. I’m not interested in the frilly, white, girly dresses that every store has so it’s hard finding alternative dress choices. I’ve checked Macy’s, Target, numerous “alternative kids clothes” sites, J. Crew, H&M, EVERYWHERE! If you know of a store that sells cool, not-too-girly dresses, PLEASE leave me a comment. Obviously I have time to find them, but I like to get as many things out of the way as possible early on, that way I don’t stress out too close to the big day.
